How We Authenticate Every Bag
If you’re buying a pre-owned Louis Vuitton, Chanel, or Gucci bag online, there’s really one question on your mind: is it real?
Good instinct. The secondary luxury market has exploded over the past few years, and counterfeits have kept pace with it. At LDH, authenticity isn’t something we put on a landing page and hope you believe. It’s a documented process, and we want to walk you through exactly how it works before you ever add a bag to your cart.
Step 1: Sourcing with a Paper Trail
Every bag that enters our collection is evaluated for provenance first: original receipts, dust bags, care cards, and prior ownership history when available. A bag with no history isn’t automatically rejected, but it does go through a more rigorous physical inspection before it moves forward.
Step 2: Third-Party Verification Through LegitApp
This is the step that sets real authentication apart from a seller’s opinion. Every bag we list is independently verified through LegitApp, a third-party authentication service used by resale professionals worldwide. Their authenticators examine the details counterfeiters get wrong most often:
We don’t authenticate our own inventory and ask you to trust our word for it. Instead, we pay a neutral third party to tell us the truth about every bag, brand by brand, and we pass that verification on to you.
Step 3: The LDH Authenticity Tag
Once a bag clears verification, it receives an LDH Authenticity Tag, our internal seal confirming the item has passed independent inspection. This tag stays with the bag through listing, sale, and delivery, so what you see in photos is backed by a documented process, not just a description.
Step 4: What Happens If a Bag Doesn’t Pass
Not every bag that comes to us makes it to the site. If an item fails verification at any stage, it’s returned to the seller and never listed. We’d rather have fewer bags in our collection than one bag we can’t stand behind.
Why This Matters More Than the Price Tag
A great price on a fake bag isn’t a deal. It’s a loss. Our authentication process is the reason you can shop LDH the same way you’d shop a trusted boutique: confident that the Louis Vuitton monogram, the Gucci hardware, or the Chloé stitching in front of you is exactly what it claims to be.
Every bag in our collection has already been through this. Browse with confidence. The verification work is already done.
